Choose a Bath & Dry for cleaning and maintenance without a haircut; choose a Full Groom when the coat also needs clipping, scissoring or styling.

Choose a Bath & Dry when your dog needs cleaning, drying, brushing, nails and basic ear and eye care but not a haircut. Choose a Full Groom when the coat also needs clipping, scissoring or styling plus face, paw and hygiene trimming. Coat type, condition and comfort matter more than breed name alone; severe matting or skin problems need individual advice.

What is included in a Bath & Dry?
The Floof Spa's Bath & Dry service includes a full-body wash with gentle dog shampoo, blow dry and brush-out, nail clipping, ear and eye cleaning, and a light fragrance finish. It does not include a haircut.
- Short coats that need cleaning and a thorough dry.
- A maintained longer coat between haircut appointments.
- Mud, grit or sand after wet or coastal walks.
- A dog whose existing shape is still practical and comfortable.
A warm-water rinse at home may be enough after a single muddy walk, so shampoo is not automatically needed whenever a dog gets dirty. A professional Bath & Dry becomes useful when the coat is difficult to clean, dry or brush through safely at home.
What is included in a Full Groom?
The Full Groom adds haircut and styling, face, paw and hygiene trimming, conditioner and coat care to the wash, blow dry, brush-out, nail clip, ear and eye clean, and fragrance finish. It is the clearer choice when coat length or shape needs changing.
- The body coat needs clipping, scissoring or reshaping.
- Hair around the face, paws or hygiene areas needs a practical trim.
- The agreed style needs resetting rather than simply cleaning.
- The coat is manageable enough to achieve the chosen finish safely.
A simple decision guide by coat and condition
Choose Bath & Dry if…
No haircut is needed, the coat can be brushed comfortably and your aim is cleaning or in-between maintenance. Short-haired dogs often fit here, but maintained longer coats can too.
Choose Full Groom if…
Your dog's coat needs clipping, scissoring, a practical style change, or face, paw and hygiene trimming. Tell Joanne your preferred finish, but expect coat condition and comfort to set safe limits.
Consider De-shed instead if…
A shedding double coat needs loose undercoat removed rather than shortened. A De-shed appointment combines bathing, drying and appropriate undercoat removal; it is not a haircut.
Ask before booking if…
There is tight matting, inflamed or painful skin, ear pain, limited mobility or significant grooming fear. Matting may change the safest finish; read what to do about matted fur rather than trying to force a brush through it.
Why breed alone does not decide the service
Two dogs of the same breed can need different appointments. Coat texture and length, the last haircut, home brushing, age, mobility and time spent in rain or seawater all matter. A short-coated dog rarely needs styling, while a curly coat may need a Full Groom even when it looks clean.
The PDSA explains that grooming needs vary by coat length and texture, and that poodle-cross coats can knot particularly easily when wet. Its general grooming guidance is useful alongside advice tailored to your individual dog.
How long do the appointments take?
The Floof Spa says a Bath & Dry is usually under 90 minutes. A Full Groom usually takes around 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Size, coat, drying time, styling work and the breaks your dog needs can all affect timing. A realistic collection time is confirmed for the individual appointment.

Does a Bath & Dry include a haircut?
No. The Floof Spa's standard Bath & Dry cleans, dries and brushes the existing coat but does not clip, scissor or restyle it.
Are nails included in both services at The Floof Spa?
Yes. Nail clipping is included in both the Bath & Dry and Full Groom packages.
Can a matted dog have only a Bath & Dry?
Ask before booking. Water and drying can tighten matting, so Joanne needs to assess the coat and discuss the safest service or finish.
Do short-haired dogs ever need a Full Groom?
Usually they need a Bath & Dry or De-shed rather than a haircut. Individual coat or hygiene needs can differ, so send a photo if unsure.
When is a De-shed better than either option?
Choose De-shed when the main need is controlled removal of loose undercoat from a shedding coat, not shortening or styling.
